Websites are the cornerstone of every business and online presence. They can help establish credibility and trust, boost brand recognition, drive traffic, increase sales, and ultimately grow a business.
However, many businesses struggle to create a professional-looking website due to limited time and/or budget constraints. Website builder tools are helping to overcome this hurdle with easy-to-use, intuitive design interfaces and drag-and-drop functionality that eliminate the need for coding knowledge.
Most web builders offer a variety of templates that can be tailored to the individual’s specific needs. Users can also add a variety of functional elements to their websites through plugins (e.g., video, gallery, maps, blog, analytics, forms, etc).
While these tools are useful, some have limitations that may prevent a website from reaching its full potential. For example, a site built with a website builder might not rank well in search engines because of limiting SEO options. Additionally, some website builders are not scalable and may not be suitable for growing or expanding businesses.
As a result, it is important to identify a website builder that meets an organization’s unique needs and fits its budget. Below are some of the key factors to consider when choosing a website builder:
Ease of Use
Website builders use pre-designed templates and drag-and-drop technology, making them easy for those with little or no coding knowledge to customize. They are also designed with mobile in mind, ensuring that visitors will have an optimal experience on all devices.
Most website builders offer 24/7 customer support to answer any questions or provide assistance. Some offer live chat, while others have dedicated phone and email support teams. The level of customer service can be a significant differentiator between website builder providers.
Cost
The cost of website builder solutions varies greatly depending on the features, level of customization, and hosting plans available. Some are free to use, while others require a subscription. Most website builders include basic hosting, but some may also offer advanced features like ecommerce, SEO tools, and integrations with third- party applications.
Simplified Complexity
The race to provide a website builder that is both simple enough for the average
user and powerful enough for a developer has been an ongoing battle. Web developers have created a variety of solutions that reduce website functionalities down to fifty elements that can be reused and dragged into place on the page.
While some website builders are free to use, most have a subscription model that can be expensive for smaller organizations without the revenue to pay for a custom- built site. Those looking to save money on the costs of a website should look for a provider that offers a free trial or discounts for first-time customers.
